Strengthening Collaboration and Charting the Future of Statelessness Advocacy in Asia Pacific
Date: 30 September – 3 October 2024
Venue: Country Villa, Nagarkot, Nepal
From 30 September to 3 October 2024, Nationality for All (NFA) convened the Strategic Planning Meeting of the Statelessness and Dignified Citizenship Coalition – Asia Pacific (SDCC-AP) in the serene setting of Nagarkot, Nepal.
The meeting brought together members of the SDCC-AP Steering Committee for an intensive and collaborative four-day retreat aimed at defining the Coalition’s direction for the next three years. Guided by a shared vision of dignity, inclusion, and justice for all, the participants worked collectively to develop:
- A comprehensive Three-Year Strategic Plan,
- A Theory of Change to guide the Coalition’s long-term impact, and
- A timeline of key activities and priorities for coordinated regional action.
Deepening Solidarity and Strengthening Collective Action
Beyond strategic planning, the discussions focused on the Coalition’s evolving role in the region — exploring ways to expand membership, strengthen solidarity-building efforts, and ensure the meaningful participation of impacted persons at every level of decision-making.
Through open dialogue, shared reflection, and collaborative goal-setting, members reaffirmed their commitment to a regional movement that is grounded in the lived realities of stateless persons and responsive to the diverse contexts across Asia and the Pacific.
A Step Forward for the Coalition
The strategic planning meeting marked an important milestone in strengthening SDCC-AP’s collective vision and operational framework. It provided a space for members to align on shared priorities, identify opportunities for joint advocacy, and deepen collaboration among national and regional partners.
As the Coalition moves forward with its new strategic direction, the outcomes of this meeting will serve as a foundation for sustained, coordinated, and inclusive regional action to end statelessness and uphold the right to nationality for all.
