NFA’s Executive Director, Subin Mulmi took an Insightful Session on Gender Dynamics in Constitution, Citizenship, and Statelessness for the Fellows of Women Lead Nepal

NFA’s Executive Director, Subin Mulmi took a session on ‘Gendered space in the Constitution, Citizenship and Ending Statelessness’ for the Fellows of Women Lead Nepal on December 6, 2023,

Women LEAD is an NGO that works with youth in Nepal with the vision of building a better world where women leaders co-create the future. Since 2011, we’ve worked with over 3,500 youth with the skills, support, and experiences needed to become leaders in their communities and nation. The Young Women’s Political Leadership Course (YWPLC) is one of the flagship programs of WLEAD. Through the intensive eight-month-long YWPLC, 18 participants/ fellows will gain foundational knowledge about Nepal’s democratic system and the political processes in the country. It further equips future female leaders in Nepal with the tools, experiences, and support needed to pursue their vision for change. The age group of the YWPLC Fellows for this year is between 18 to 25 years, these young women are passionate about taking a deep dive into political leadership and youth activism. We have a diverse cohort of young women from different castes, ethnicities, and different streams (Law, Humanities, and Agriculture).

The objective of the session, “Gendered Spaces in the Constitution, Citizenship, Ending Statelessness” was to make fellows understand how the Constitution addresses gender-related issues, including rights, equality, and citizenship; make them understand statelessness and its implications for individuals, with a focus on how gender intersects with statelessness.
