NFA continued to mark its presence in multilateral spaces, this time at the 18th convening of Internet Governance Forum (IGF), in Kyoto from 8-12 October.
Our Research Coordinator, Shuchi Purohit, participated in several sessions to discuss the concerning impacts of Digital ID on minorities, especially on stateless communities in Asia Pacific. As a part of our coalition of Digital ID and Human Rights, we actively engaged in the first public session to share the work undertaken by the coalition, specifically on multilateralism as well as legislation mapping on Digital ID systems. It ended with raising crucial questions on poor implementation of Digital ID systems, highlighting the potential risks and implications for minorities who are left vulnerable in the digital age.
