Inception Workshop with Rohingya Human Rights Initiative (R4R)

Building Partnership with R4R

Kitchener, Canada | 17–19 March 2026

From 17–19 March 2026, Nationality for All (NFA) convened a three-day Inception and Institutional Diagnostic Workshop with Rohingya Human Rights Initiative (R4R) in Kitchener, Canada. The workshop marked the beginning of a formal six-month partnership (April–September 2026) between the two organizations.

The workshop served as an important milestone for both organizations, creating a dedicated space to reflect on R4R’s journey, explore its current context, and identify pathways for strengthening its work moving forward. It brought together R4R’s leadership and NFA to engage in structured discussions focused on organizational development, long-term vision, and sustainability.

Throughout the three days, the engagement focused on building a shared understanding of priorities and strengthening the foundation for future collaboration. The process emphasized the importance of aligning strategic direction with available resources, while ensuring that R4R’s work remains grounded in its core mission of advancing the rights of Rohingya communities.

This engagement also reaffirmed the value of creating intentional spaces for reflection and planning—particularly for impacted persons-led organizations that often operate under significant external pressures. By stepping back to assess both opportunities and challenges, the workshop enabled a more focused and forward-looking approach to R4R’s work.

The partnership between NFA and R4R is rooted in a model of accompaniment and solidarity. NFA’s role is not to lead or direct, but to provide strategic support, mentorship, and guidance, while ensuring that ownership of the process remains firmly with R4R. This approach reflects NFA’s broader commitment to strengthening the leadership and sustainability of impacted persons-led organizations across the region.

Over the six-month partnership period, NFA will continue to engage with R4R through regular check-ins, strategic support, and collaborative problem-solving, with the aim of supporting R4R’s ongoing transition toward a more structured and sustainable organization.

This engagement marks an important step in strengthening long-term collaboration and reinforcing shared efforts to advance rights-based advocacy for Rohingya communities.
