Research Associates (2 Positions)
We are excited to announce an open call for applications for two Research Associates to develop a Guide on Accountability to Affected Persons (AAP) by Statelessness in the Asia Pacific. We invite passionate and talented individuals to join our dynamic team and contribute to groundbreaking research in the statelessness field.
Objectives:
- Analyze the existing UNHCR policies on AAP through the lens of meaningful participation and leadership of people affected by statelessness by meaningfully including affected people in the analysis process
- Identify best practices and lessons learned on AAP frameworks on statelessness in the Asia Pacific region
- Draft a separate Guidance on Accountability for People Affected by Statelessness that is co-designed and drafted with impacted persons.
Scope and Limitations:
The project entails research to fulfill the aforementioned objectives. The project will assess the AAP policies of other UN and humanitarian organizations but will be designed for UNHCR Regional Bureaus, Country Operations, and Project Partners. The separate Guidance may be globally applicable but the research will be focused only in the Asia Pacific region. The study on the best practices and lessons learned will not be limited to UNHCR projects but any relevant work on statelessness in the region.
Role Overview:

- Employment Type: Consultancy
- Time Commitment: Approx. 320 hours over 8 months
Research Associates will work closely with the Research Lead and contribute to the research project. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your research skills and work on the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct literature reviews and data collection.
- Analyze research data and assist in the preparation of the Guide and the reports
- Support the planning and execution of research activities.
Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree or higher in Law, Human Rights, or Social Science.
- Experience in conducting research and data analysis.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative data analysis tools and software
