Nicole Fong is a human rights researcher, activist, and writer based in Malaysia, with up to eight years of experience working on civil and political rights, LGBTQ+ rights, climate justice, statelessness, and refugee rights.They are working towards a just and liberated world where oppressed peoples are free from systems of oppression, and can live with dignity, free from discrimination, abuse, and violence. They are committed to feminist participatory research that centers the voices and agency of affected communities. She was the Deputy Lead Researcher for a research project on statelessness and human rights in Peninsular Malaysia, commissioned by the national human rights institution of Malaysia. This study’s findings which were cited by MPs in Parliaments, resulted in the Home Minister commiting to simplifying the citizenship applications process. She holds an MSc Economics and BSc in Economics from the University of East Anglia. She is a professional fellow for civic engagement of the Young South-East Asian Leadership Initiative (YSEALI).
